Taking the first step towards counselling is not always easy.
You may know that something needs to change but are not quite sure what the problem is. You may be experiencing pressure at work, difficulties in your relationship, burnout, a major life transition or simply a growing sense that the way you have been coping is not working anymore.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to counselling. My role is to provide a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening and work out where to go from there.
I particularly enjoy working with men who may be reluctant or unfamiliar with counselling, couples wanting to improve their relationship, and adults navigating burnout, work-life pressures, behaviour change and significant life transitions.
Our work is collaborative. I won’t tell you what you should do or try to “fix” you. Instead, we will explore your experiences, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, recognise your strengths and develop practical strategies that fit your circumstances and goals.
Depending on your needs, counselling may draw on approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and mindfulness-based interventions. As a qualified hypno-psychotherapist, therapeutic hypnosis may also be incorporated where appropriate, particularly when working towards behaviour change.
I recognise that counselling is not a one-size-fits-all. The approach, pace and focus of our work will be tailored to you.
You can expect me to listen without judgement, challenge you when appropriate, respect your autonomy and work with you towards meaningful and sustainable change.
You don’t have to know exactly what needs to change before we begin. Sometimes the first step is simply creating the space to understand.
Meaningful change begins with understanding.
Whether you are navigating a specific challenge or seeking greater clarity, resilience, and fulfilment, therapy can help you move from feeling overwhelmed and uncertain towards a clearer and more confident path forward.
